Healing, growing, moving forward
Georgia Berny, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing Telehealth therapy to adults and couples in New York and Florida. I hold the space for your process to align with the center of who you are and what you want. Whether it be healthier relationships, better understanding of family dynamics, launching a life transition you’ve always wanted, or coming down from the storms you’ve weathered, I’m here.
My expertise is in PTSD, anxiety disorders, financial health, navigating family, relationships, and life transitions. I tailor my knowledge of evidenced-based practices, yoga, and the creative arts to fit your needs and the path that you are on.
What to expect
Sessions are calm. This is a time for you to express and explore outside the busy-ness of life. What people are saying…
“Georgia’s presence is calm, understanding, non-judgmental and validating. She is powerfully spiritual but not in an intimidating way. She is generous with her time and energy. Very caring and open about what I am working on. A lot of our interactions feel like having coffee with a gently wise old friend in a sunny kitchen; very warm, comforting and challenging when necessary.
Georgia has helped me in a lot of ways. She reminds me to prioritize my needs vs. other people’s expectations and helps me understand the difference. She reminds me of my own strength(s) and points out that others may be threatened by that/may try to manipulate those things as a form of control. She has encouraged me to do things that are scary and affirms my feelings even when I’m not sure where they are coming from. She’s really good at seeing the whole context of what is going on so that it is clear where my feelings are coming from. She is very understanding and non-judgmental because sometimes I haven’t fully figured out how to explain or articulate something I want to say but we can talk it out.” - Dr. E, Anthropologist
“Georgia sees the calm in the chaos. She is insightful in seeing the bright and the good! I remember being extremely overwhelmed by a family work trip, and Georgia took away every bit of “Mom guilt” with very simple words.” - K.E. Home school educator and mother of two
“Georgia brings a peaceful presence to the room. She is empathic and patient. While she spots out issues it doesn’t stop her from seeing the best in people and believing in them. Everything down to her voice radiates calm and compassion. She’s helped me not feel defined by my past by providing insight and understanding. She is reassuring and encouraging, an amazing support!” - C.S. Business Owner and Artist
“Georgia knows that pain (emotional and physical) can be trapped in the body. If not dealt with, it can manifest into other challenges that cause continued suffering. The process with her is circular. Georgia deeply listens to what I’m saying. She hears reverberations of moments and reflects them back in an image and thoughts to consider. I reflect and feel reverberations from the words she’s chosen which allow hidden pains to be seen/resolved.” - R.C., Healthcare Executive & writer
“Georgia is calming, great at listening, insightful and thoughtful. She is talented at forming connections between past and present and understanding family dynamics. She has a very deep understanding of how a person’s socioeconomic status, gender, and orientation affects a person’s life and development.” - A.A., Artist and Educator
